Instead of place like allmusic where a small group of people try to track of every artist in every genre, you have a site that allows EVERYONE to pitch in and allows every fanbase to maintain an artist's discography themselves. You have a favorite band? You can go to discogs and build their discography and other fans can come along and fill in the blanks. It's a powerful resource for music collectors and a music fans who want to make sure they have every single thing for their favorite artist.
